Portillo’s, the fast-casual restaurant brand known for its menu of Chicago-style favorites, will open its newest restaurant at 295 W. Coliseum Blvd. with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Prior to the official grand opening, which will include remarks from Mayor Tom Henry, Portillo’s partnered with Turnstone and Mad Anthony Children’s Hope House during a sneak peek preview at the restaurant. The events held on Nov. 18 and 19 raised more than $6,900 through donations from the sneak peek preview meals. Portillo’s will match the donations received for each organization.

Portillo’s Fort Wayne features a diner-themed interior drawing décor inspiration from the 1950s and 1960s. The 7,800 square foot restaurant is located near Glenbrook Square at the intersection of West Coliseum Boulevard and Speedway Drive. The space includes seating for more than 190 guests, a seasonal outdoor patio with seating for 48 guests, a double drive-thru and adjacent parking lot. One design highlight exclusive to Fort Wayne is a mural of the Fort Wayne Daisies, a local women’s baseball team that dates back to the 1940s.

Portillo’s has more than 60 locations across several states, and Fort Wayne’s is its sixth restaurant in Indiana restaurant.
