1955 - Charles (Buddy) Rogers of Spencer, Iowa, front, is named as "Joe Bowler" and gets ready to roll the first ball during opening-night ceremonies of the American Bowling Congress Tournament, March 26, 1955, at the coliseum. 1999 - Northrop High School running coach Brad Peterson keeps track of time while Brett Tipton, center, makes the turnaround back to school halfway through Thursday's four-mile run. Tipton is one of the best 800- and 1600-meter runners in the nation.
2001 - A sign posted near N. Coliseum Blvd. and the River Greenway on the Maumee River warns of the upcoming dangerous hole in the path.
2002 - Mike Barton's son Mike, 15, peels up ruined floor tile in his family's water-damaged house. The mask is to protect against fiberglass, drywall and other dusts that fill the house.
2003 - Vladimir Vasic gets help on his taxes from AARP volunteer Dick Sager at the Community Center, Wednesday.
2004 - Visitors brave rain for Bud Meeks' funeral at The Chapel, Friday morning.
2005 - Harding coach Al Gooden contests an out-of-bounds call during the final minutes of their state final vs. Forest Park High School in IHSAA AA state final basketball.
2006 - The Komets' Kelly Miller brawls with Missouri's J.P. Beilsten in the second period of Fort Wayne's 3-2 shootout victory over the River Otters at Memorial Coliseum on Sunday.
2009 - Angela Bleke,18,Derek Lorencen,18, left and Ben Parker, 18, load donated Easter Baskets to take to the families of 122nd Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard headquartered in Fort Wayne. The four Concordia Seniors, who organized the project are in the ROTC. They are working with the Dollar Tree Store to deliver donated baskets to military families.
2009 - Daffodils were on sale Wednesday morning at Cottage Flowers,236 E Wayne Street, a part of the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days.
2011 - A customer comes to browse Borders' store-closing sale, with many items, including books and journals, at 30 percent off. The store at 4320 Coldwater Road is one of another 28 stores across the country that the company announced earlier this month it will close. The Ann Arbor, Mich., bookstore chain is going through Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.
2015 - Perry Hill fourth graders students participated in their annual egg drop science experiment. The goal was to teach students about problem solving and critical thinking by having them create a container to protect the egg and analyze the results of their experiment.Students were entertained by the results as some drops cracked and others bounced.
