2 Fort Wayne victims died Sunday from gunshots; one was past Northrop basketball player

The Allen County Coroner’s Office has released the identities of two men it has confirmed died of gunshot wounds in separate incidents Sunday morning.
Javon T. Burnett, 26, of Fort Wayne was found dead at around 10 a.m. Sunday in the 3900 block of Newport Avenue between some buildings at the Summit of Ridgewood Apartments, according to police.
Medics and firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.
Callers to 911 communications reported hearing gunshots and screams before officers arrived.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Burnett died of a gunshot wound or wounds, ruled his death as the 12th homicide in Allen County this year.
Burnett had been a Northrop High School basketball player about 10 years ago.
Burnett’s death followed that of Shawn Deon Ware, 45, of Fort Wayne, who was found dead in the 3000 block of Abbott Street at 5 a.m. Sunday.
An autopsy showed he too died of a gunshot wound or wounds. The coroner’s office often does not release how many times a person was shot if the investigation is ongoing. Ware’s death was ruled the 11th homicide in Allen County this year.
Both incidents continue to be investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the coroner’s office.
