Man arrested in Fort Wayne by US Marshals in connection with Chicago ex-girlfriend’s killing

U.S. Marshals arrested a man in Fort Wayne on Friday in connection with the April 5 killing of his ex-girlfriend in Chicago.
Deshawn L. Johnson, 33, was wanted in the homicide of his ex-girlfriend, Shaquita Bennett, 31. Bennett was shot in the back of the head twice.
The U.S. Marshals’ Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Fort Wayne Police Department Gang Unit found Johnson on Friday at his brother’s residence in the 700 block of Buchanan Street, according to the U.S. Marshals. Johnson was found hiding under insulation in the crawl space of the house and booked into the Allen County Jail to await the extradition process, according to a news release.
