SWAT team takes New Haven man into custody after he allegedly fires 20 shots

A New Haven man faces a preliminary felony criminal recklessness charge after he allegedly fired over 20 shots and the Allen County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team took him into custody, according to police.

New Haven Police officers were called at 2:58 a.m. Monday to the 1100 block of Moeller Road after someone called to report hearing shots fired, according to a news release.

The homeowner said she believed the person responsible was her roommate, Timothy J. Hill, 36. Hill allegedly had fired a semiautomatic rifle and refused to come out of the home.

Police asked for help from the county’s SWAT team and negotiators. Hill was taken into custody without incident and several weapons were removed from the home, according to the release.
