THIS DAY IN HISTORY: July 13 in photos

1936 - In July 1936, the city opened a pool, complete with Red Cross lifeguards, in the St. Joseph River below the Waterworks Dam on Anthony Boulevard. So many swimmers rushed to the pool that planned improvements to the municipal beach and the river bed became impossible - and the board of works announced a preferred route for the public to travel there.
1994 - Kathi Peters fearlessly swims with the sharks at the Live Shark Show now showing on the midway at the Noble County Fair.
1995 - Eight-year-olds WIllie Walker, right, and Nathiniel Durden rest on a picnic table in Franke Park after exhausting themselves in the heat at Fort Wayne Children's Zoo Thursday. Walker and Durden of Muncie were at the zoo with other members of the Madison Community Center's summer camp group. The group consists of children ranging in ages from 5 to 18 years. The camp was on a special trip to Fort Wayne which was sponsored by Borg-Warner Automotive.
1998 - Nick Roulette, of the Blue Moon Boys, is part-time singer and full-time clown on stage. Here he performs with the band July 13 at the 1998 Three Rivers Festival.
1999 - Eric Mitchener, 6, runs through the fountain at Headwaters Park for 97.3 WMEE's Largest Squirt Gun Fight Monday morning.
2002 - Stained glass like that shown here in Superior Courtroom No. 2 graces the ceiling in each of the four courtrooms on the third floor of the Allen County Courthouse. The creators of the masterpieces are unknown.
2003 - One of the many great chalk art works on Main Street as part of the Three Rivers Festival Chalk Walk, by artists Sean Rodman and Bob Kiel.
2004 - Nolan Frankville, 19, left, waves to passersby, hanging out with friends on the steps at the entrance of the TRF beer tent at Headwaters Park, Wednesday night.
2004 - A homemade waffle cone cools while another one cooks in the iron in Downtown Pizza and Ice Cream on the corner of Berry and Fulton streets.
2006 - Blane Ryan, president of the Three Rivers and Indiana Northern Railroad Association, volunteers at the History Museum to show off his train collection and share his knowledge with the visitors. He is fixing a derailed train.
2007 - Motor oil is spread along a barrier wall on U.S. 30 Eastbound between the U.S. 33 and I-69 interchanges where a semi trailer that flipped on its side on Eastbound U.S. 30 and slid along the wall. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Nagar Myint, speaks very little English so he was relying on his partner Kundon Nya to do the haggling for them.
2015 - Three Rivers Festival Chalk Walk saw several unique ideas splattered throughout Main Street, including Minions taking a selfie.
2017 - Members of the Optimum Performance Sports team race down Main Street in Fort Wayne during the annual Bed Race as part of the Three Rivers Festival.
2017 - Betsy Gemmer coordinates the sewing area at TekVenture, the local public art and technology workshop at 1550 Griffin St. in the River City complex east of downtown Fort Wayne.
