1954 - The Tri-State Timing Association was formed in the summer of 1954, and took over Company Street at Baer Field on Sunday afternoons for drag races. The cars competed against a timing device, which clocked them on the last 132 feet of the track. Here, on July 25, 1954, a crowd gathered around a souped-up job that had pulled into the pits.
1994 - Julia Hipkins in front of her Hillside home.
1996 - A senior student, Jennifer Martin conducts Carroll High School's band "Charger Pride" practice at Perry Hill Elementary school.
1997 - Steel Dynamics Inc. employee Todd Teller communicates with the finish mill pulpit operator through a walkie-talkie. Teller makes sure that the glowing-hot steel slab in the rolling press does not develop defects, like becoming misshapen or buckled.
2001 - Shane Curry and his in-progress mural in the home of Kashem and Cindy Sarker, on Trentman Road.
2002 - Scott Doss of Hagerman Construction talks about working on the Memorial Coliseum Addition/Renovation project, including monitoring the curing concrete at the upper levels of the addition.
2003 - Bufford Gross of Peru demonstrates how to fly his modified Wright Flyer he finished building in 2000.
2005 - Auctioneer Jerry Ehle of Schrader Real Estate & Auction of New Haven, closes bidding on milk and cheeses from the Grand Champion Dairy Cow of Caid Blessing during the Allen County 4-H Livestock Auction at the Fairgrounds Monday. The winning bidder was Dimension Ford North for a record $2600.
2007 - Teosha Scott,19, and Talisha Craig,18, seemed pleased with the new building and the shorter waiting time at the New Social Security Office in Waynedale. The new office opened Monday.
2010 - Bethany Vilaruz looks back to her Orchard Ridge dive coach, Maria Kiefer, not pictured, before completing a dive in the 8-and-under girls division at the Fort Wayne city dive meet on Sunday at Helen P. Brown Natatorium.
2011 - Joey Koesters,6, tries to catch a raisin in his mouth, frog style Thursday morning at the Metea County Park Day Camp. This is the last week for the camp and campers were learning all about bullfrogs and butterflies. Camp at Metea started July 25 and participants could come for a week or sign up for the whole session. Before July 25 the camp was held at Fox Island County Park, for 5 weeks.
2011 - Dave Parker played for the former Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds
2013 - A team of four boys secures its time by moving its pig onto an old tire in the center of the arena during the Team Pig Wrestling competition Wednesday evening at the Allen County Fair. This is the first time pig wrestling has appeared at the fair.
2014 - The mango salsa adds a a hint of sweetness to the Jamaican tilapia at Adams Lake Pub.
2016 - Shelly Bingle, executive director of the Indiana 4-H Foundation, left, and pie baker Helen Witte, beside her, sample Witte’s pies in the hospitality tent. “I’ll have what she’s having,” Bingle said. That pie, “Fruits of the Forest,” is one Witte describes as “all the leftovers dumped together,” but which the server in the hospitality tent described as “like having a little bit of all of them.”
