Allen County’s 35th, 36th homicide victims identified

Two recent homicide victims have been identified by the Allen County Coroner’s office.

On Sept. 12 Lee Caldwell, 68, suffered thermal burns at her home in the 5600 block of Harrison Street. She was transported to a local hospital, where she remained until her death Sept. 28. Cause of Death has been determined to be respiratory and renal failure due to the burns, and the death was ruled a homicide.

Lizzie Lee Caldwell is the 35th Homicide in Allen County, for 2018.

Meanwhile, a man killed in a shooting Sunday in the 3500 block of Congress Avenue has been identified as Drake Amir Wells, 21. He was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3400 block of Congress and was pronounced dead on scene.

The deaths are the 35th and 36th homicides in Allen County for 2018, and the incidents remain under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s office and the Allen County Coroner’s office.
