Allen County Right to Life will host the 45th annual March for Life in downtown Fort Wayne on Saturday, Jan. 26. Organizers expect nearly 2,000 people to peacefully protest the 1973 Supreme Court Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion across the country through all nine months of pregnancy.

The march will begin with a noon rally at the University of St. Francis Performing Arts Center, 431 W. Berry St. Speaker will be David Bereit, founder of 40 Days for Life. 40 Days for Life, which takes place annually in Fort Wayne and in cities across the world, seeks to end abortion through prayer and fasting. The Silent No More Awareness campaign will be represented during the rally. Mike Davis will also share a man’s perspective on lost fatherhood due to abortion.

Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., and informational tables will be available prior to the event. Past exhibitors have included Lutherans for Life, Silent No More Awareness Campaign, Catholic Medical Guild of Northeast Indiana, Women’s Care Center, Catholic Charities, Project Rachel, Bott Radio, Redeemer Radio, The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) and A Mother’s Hope.

Following the rally, the march will process through downtown, ending at the E. Ross Adair Federal Building.

“We show up to march year after year because preborn children deserve a voice,” Abigail Lorenzen, Allen County Right to Life operations and media director, said in a statement. “Fort Wayne may be without an abortion facility, but women in difficult pregnancies are still targeted for abortion. By marching for life, we are offering love and hope to those women and their preborn boys and girls. Fort Wayne is a community that cares for its neighbors, both born and preborn.”
