Historic Fort Wayne was vandalized last week, with “no pride in native genocide” sprayed on the south-facing exterior façade on both sides of the gate. The Parks Department has been notified and a formal police report was made earlier this afternoon.

The paint was to have bee removed using soda blasting, which causees minimal damage to the fort itself.

Founded in 2004, Historic Fort Wayne is a non-profit organization that manages the Old Fort in Fort Wayne. The group works to educate the community about Historic Fort Wayne and its significance to the Northwest Territory, the state of Indiana, and the United States during the 17th and 18th centuries through interactive programming. All events are free to the public, and all programming is funded by private and corporate donations.
