‘County Night Out’ events to begin downtown Sept. 11
The Allen County Commissioners’ office has scheduled its annual “County Night Out” events for 2019 — and there’s something different planned for the first one.
This year the commissioners felt it important to offer a downtown Fort Wayne location for one of the events as a reminder to city residents that they also receive services from county government. So the first County Night Out meeting will be on Wednesday, Sept. 11, in the Omni Room of Citizens Square, 202 E. Berry St., from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Grabill Park Pavilion at 13131 Indiana St. will be the site of the second County Night Out on Tuesday, Sept. 24, and the third event is set for Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Huntertown Fire Department Headquarters, 15412 Lima Road. Both of these meetings will begin at the traditional time of 6:30 p.m. and run until 8:00 p.m.
“County Night Out” features an open-house format designed to allow citizens the opportunity to meet the Commissioners and other elected officeholders face-to-face and get information about programs and services offered by various County departments. Among the County departments and elected officeholders which will be represented at the meetings are the Parks Department, Highway Department, Health Department, Department of Homeland Security, County Extension Service, Department of Environmental Management, Voter Registration, Election Board, Human Resources, Treasurer and Assessor.
