First ‘County Night Out’ will be downtown on Sept. 11

Fort Wayne residents are Allen County residents, too. That’s the message the Allen County Board of Commissioners hopes to get across at the first “County Night Out” to be held in downtown Fort Wayne.

The first of the three fall events will take place in the Omni Room of Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry St., on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Besides the location, the meeting will also have a different starting time of 4:30 p.m. and will end at 6 p.m.

“County Night Out” features an open-house format designed to allow citizens the opportunity to meet the Commissioners and other elected officeholders face-to-face and get information about programs and services offered by various County departments. Among the departments and elected officeholders which will be represented at the meeting are the Parks Department, Highway Department, Health Department, Department of Homeland Security, County Extension Service, Department of Environmental Management, Voter Registration, Election Board, Human Resources, Treasurer and Assessor.

The second “County Night Out” is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Grabill at the town’s Park Pavilion, 13131 Indiana St. The final meeting will be in Huntertown on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Fire Department Headquarters, 15412 Lima Road. Both of these meetings will begin at the traditional time of 6:30 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.
