UPDATED: Night of Lights still a go, but some activities adjusted because of wind; ‘Christmas on Broadway’ tree falls
Wednesday evening’s Night of Lights lighting ceremonies will still take place, but some outdoor festivities will be limited to protect public safety due to expected strong wind gusts. Other activities may be subject to change or limited in scope depending on conditions.
Another Fort Wayne Christmas tradition was affected more dramatically by Wednesday’s gusts, with the “Christmas on Broadway” tree outside the Shine and Hardin law office toppled shortly after noon. It is scheduled to be righted on Friday.
Lighting & activities adjustments for Wednesday night include:
• Aunt Millie’s will not have a tent in its parking lot this evening. Their event will be held indoors at the former Office Furniture showroom, 256 W. Main St., right across Webster Street from the usual tent location. They will light their building at 6 pm as scheduled, and will still serve hot cider and slices of Aunt Millie’s Raisin Swirl Bread.
• Although I&M Power Center will still be serving hot cocoa this evening, their Holiday Concert has been moved to Parkview Field. The Renee Gonzalez Trio will perform in the Parkview Field Suite Level Lounge from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• The Fireworks Show at Parkview Field has been cancelled due to safety concerns but all fans at the ballpark will be treated to holiday-themed entertainment, with a video board holiday light show set for 8 p.m.
