“Holiday cheer is alive and well in Downtown Fort Wayne,” DID President Michael Galbraith said in a statement. “Thanks to our partnership with Fort Wayne Newspapers, we are able to share these amazing window displays. No matter your age, these window displays echo the treasured memories of Fort Wayne’s Downtown Christmas past, emphasize the vibrancy of Fort Wayne’s Holiday present and are inspiring a new generation to build future Holiday memories and traditions of their own.”
Holiday window decorating is a tradition that had largely disappeared from Downtown for decades after the losses of stores such as Wolf and Dessauer, Murphy’s and others. The DID also recognized the Embassy Theatre for keeping this tradition alive over the years.
Though the voting for the Downtown Holiday Window Decorating Contest is over you can still walk through Downtown to view these windows. For more information on holiday activities all season long visit: www.HolidayFestDowntown.com
