Sam’s Club recycling site to be closed and relocated

Starting Saturday, Feb. 1, Allen County residents will no longer be able to recycle at Sam’s Club located at 6736 Lima Road. The community recycling drop-off site will need to relocate due to a decision made by the corporate division of Sam’s Club.

The Allen County Department of Environmental Management (ACDEM) oversees the operation of six sites throughout the county available to all residents and used especially by those who do not have access to curbside recycling. Charity organizations are also allowed to use the sites.

ACDEM is working to find a new location in the area of the Sam’s Club site to continue the service as soon as possible. The following five recycling drop-off sites, as well as the Republic Services recycling facility, remain open to the public:

 Stellhorn Village, 4522 Maplecrest Road

 Little River Wetlands Project, 5000 Smith Road

 Kroger Southgate Plaza, 281 Petit Ave.

 Leo-Cedarville, 14701 Schwartz Road

 Monroeville, 110 W. South St.

All of the locations above are open Tuesday-Saturday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Republic Services, 2509 E Pontiac St., is

open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.-noon
