Man gets 78 months on drug, firearm charges
Lafayette L. Carr, 29, of Fort Wayne, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Holly A. Brady for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The sentence will be followed by two years of supervised release.
According to documents in this case, in the early morning hours of April 18, 2019, police served a search warrant on a room at a motel on Goshen Road upon information that Carr had sold narcotics there during the night while armed. Inside the room officers located small, pre-packaged amounts of cocaine and heroin, digital scales and baggies. A few feet from the narcotics, officers located a loaded .40-caliber handgun hidden inside the coffee pot.
