Allen County records 2nd COVID-19 death; officials profile most-affected groups
Another Allen County resident has died as a result of COVID-19 and six have tested positive, bringing the total to two deaths and 36 cases.
Meanwhile, health officials on Tuesday gave the most detailed breakdown yet about how the virus is impacting various segments of the local population.
According to county Department of Health, the 70-79 age group accounts for 26.7 percent of the confirmed cases. The 60-69 group has recording 20 percent of the cases, followed by 16.7 percent in the 50-59 group, 10 percent in the 30-39, 40-49 and 80-plus groups and 6.7 percent in the 20-29 group. No cases have been confirmed in people under 20.
Men account for 56.7 percent of the cases; women 43.3 percent. Of all the cases, 66.7 of the patients have been hospitalized, 16.7 percent of the cases are on ventilators and 13.3 percent are suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
