Greg Friend confirmed on Thursday night that he has stepped down as coach of the Snider girls’ basketball team. He declined further comment to news-sentinel.com.

Friend spent two years at the helm of Snider, compiling a 22-22 record including 8-15 this past season.

Friend served as the head girls’ hoops coach at Bishop Luers from 2007-2009, winning a pair of sectional championships with the Knights. He also coached North Side during the 2006-07 season.

Last December, Friend served a one-day suspension given by Fort Wayne Community Schools after a player alleged he battered her in a timeout during a game on Dec. 15.

Friend took over the Panthers after Kelley Meiklejohn resigned following the 2015-16 season.
