A pair of future Saint Francis Cougars will take the lead on their future home court on April 29 in the 26th annual Nancy Rehm/Border Wars Classic.

North Side’s Brandan Johnson and Blackhawk Christian’s Jalan Mull will head up the boys team that will represent Indiana against Ohio. The boys will face Ohio in a 4:15 game at the Hutzell Athletic Center on Saint Francis’ campus, following the 2 p.m. girls game between the two states. A three point contest and slam dunk contest will also be held.

Joining the future Cougar duo on the boys side will be Homestead’s Grant Raber, Onye Ezeakudo and Sam Buck, Wayne’s Kylon Jarreau and Dillon Redding, Leo’s Jeremy Davison, Bishop Dwenger’s Lucas Lehrman, South Side’s Asher Blum, Norwell’s Brandon Nicholson and Smith Academy’s Justin Booker.

The boys team will be coached by Blackhawk Christian head coach Marc Davidson, who will be assisted by Roger Stull, Harold Pierson and Grant Sinn.

On the girls side, South Side coach Juanita Goodwell will take the lead, assisted by Northrop coach Rashida Muhammad. Each of the their high school teams will be represented by three players.

Taniece Chapman, Shamari Tyson and Mikeba Jones from South Side and Arielle Thatcher, Morgan Hughes and Bre Douglas from Northrop will be a part of the girls representing Indiana. They will be joined by Bishop Luers’ Kathryn Knapke, Carroll’s Kelli Damman and Laney Steckler and Norwell’s Logan Rowles.

The Nancy Rehm/Border Wars was started, in part, to honor the life of the former Indiana Tech and Bishop Luers player who was murdered in 1982. Her father, Tom Rehm, continues to organize the event between top players from Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio.

The teams representing Ohio have yet to be announced.
