History Center includes Bob Chase’s Mad Anthonys Red Coat in online collection

While wearing his Mad Anthonys Red Coat, Bob Chase waves to the October 2010 Komets opening-night crowd.

The History Center posted a collection of photographs on its Facebook and Instagram pages Monday which commemorate the 61 years of the Mad Anthonys Children’s Foundation golf tournament. Among the highlights are the Red Coat long-time WOWO and Komets broadcaster Bob Chase received from the group in 2010. Chase’s children recently donated the jacket and the tie Chase wore to the museum. He passed away in 2016.

The photographs are part of a new museum program began in January which includes 78 collections called “Socially History.” The presentations build on the 200@200 program which celebrated Indiana’s bicentennial in 2016, according to Executive Director Todd M. Pelfrey.

“The Mad Anthonys are a distinct and cherished local tradition,” Pelfrey said. “The red coat has a lot of great, great memories for many folks throughout the community. To be able to show something as iconic as a red coat, especially one from Bob Chase is really special for us.”

The collection can be seen on Facebook which can be seen by tapping here, and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/fwhistorycenter.
