Heritage names Adam Gray as new boys basketball coach

Adam Gray
Adam Gray has been named the new head boys basketball coach at Heritage High School following the resignation of Barry Singrey after this past season. Gray was approved as the new head coach at Tuesday night’s East Allen County Schools board meeting.
Gray is coming off of two seasons as an assistant at Carroll under boys basketball coach Marty Beasley.
A 2014 graduate of the University of Saint Francis, Gray started his coaching career in 2011 as the junior varsity coach at Whitko. He then was an assistant coach at Saint Francis and Huntington North. He has also coached with the Club1 basketball program during their first year.
Professionally, Gray will teach physical education at Heritage. He spent last year as a teacher for Northwest Allen County School after being a special education teacher with both Southwest Allen County Schools and Bluffton-Harrison Middle School.
Heritage is coming off a 16-5 season where they won the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament title and finished second to Jay County in the regular season standings. It was the first winning season for the Patriots since 2008-2009.
The Patriots will lose leading scorers Abram Beard and LaMar Hudson Jr., but will return All-ACAC second team member Alec Burton for his senior year and Jarrett Kiess and Parker Tracey will return for their junior seasons.
Heritage had had eight winning seasons in the past 24 years. Their only Sectional title came in 1998.
