Tailing the Komets: Here’s how things stand today

Talked to Komets General Manager David Franke and right now Tyson Fawcett and Justin Hodgman are on the Komets’ reserve list. But the thing is that list doesn’t mean a whole lot other than for ECHL salary cap purposes because either player can be activated at any time. In fact, either one could play Saturday night against Toledo and two other players could go on reserve.

Hodgman has been battling an undisclosed lower-body injury, but Franke said he’s a lot closer to playing Saturday night than he was last week at this time, and he expects him to play Saturday. Hodgman told me he’s desperate to play, and not only because he has family coming in from Toronto to watch him start a season for the first time in years. He’s simply hungry to play and get off to a good start.

So we won’t know until the opening night lineup is announced after warm-ups, but my guess is that Hodgman will play on Saturday.
